This is Hareesh Tibrewala.

I am a serial entrepreneur and my last venture was a digital media agency. I founded the agency as Social Wavelength in 2009, which then got acquired by WPP in 2014 and was rebranded as Mirum. Mirum is today one of India’s largest integrated digital media agencies. I ran Mirum as CEO of the organisation till December 23, before stepping down from my operational role. I continue to be on the Board of Mirum.

I have done my Bachelor of Engineering from VJTI (University of Mumbai) and Master of Science from University of Southern California (USA). I have been trained in general management at Akzo Nobel (Wuppertal, Germany).

My first entrepreneurial venture (founded in 1987) was a management consultancy firm specialising in management strategy planning; senior level recruitment; and mergers and acquisitions. In 1998, I founded India’s first e-commerce portal, Homeindia.com. Homeindia was a pioneer in its field, at a point of time when Internet and ecommerce, both were very nascent in India. Homeindia was recognised as “India’s Most Useful Website” by the Economic Times. After exiting Homeindia, I started Social Wavelegth in 2009 as a social media agency. It was again, one of India’s first social media agencies at a time when Facebook and Linkedin were just gaining traction. Soon, Social Wavelength become the largest social and digital media agency in the country, before being acquired by WPP.

Post stepping down from my full-time role at Mirum, I mentor organisations in the area of digital transformation. As a mentor with Stanford Seed, I work with companies in the growth stage enabling them to move up the value chain. I am a certified Independent Director and work with boards of organisations in area of digital marketing, artificial intelligence, technology, risk management, and corporate governance. I am partner with Social Venture Partners, a fund that provides capital and management support to help NGOs scale up. I am Chairperson of the Digital Committee at the IMC Chamber of Commerce. I have also done a Board Leadership Program for the non-profit sector.
